In this video lesson, we are going to take a look at the cowbell groove from the track 'Feeling This' by Blink 182, featuring Travis Barker on drums. This sweet groove has got a latin style ostinato with the left hand on the cowbell, while your right hand maintains a basic 16th note 4/4 beat on the hats and snare, making this an overall tricky groove to get down. he grooves in Tough Mama by Bob Dylan (1973, Planet Waves Album) are a perfect example of the “concealing the backbeat” technique. The listener temporarily loses the placement of the backbeat on the snare, and then when it falls back on it sounds sweet and clean.
