"St. Anger" is the title track from Metallica's eighth studio album, released in 2003. It won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in the following year.
This beat is first heard in the chorus, around 0:50. The most distinctive aspect of the beat is how Lars delays the back-beats to the 'ands of 2 & 4'. During recording, Lars forgot to turn on the snare, but when listening to the playback, liked the sound. However, the low-fi sound was generally derided by fans and critics alike.
