Hi Guys first time posting on here but i love this site! Great on you guys for having this.

I am a drums and percussion teacher in Canada and was just looking at buying some software to score some beats and such. I was looking specifically at a program that i could just simply play into the mic and have it score for me. The Closest ive heard to this being a possibility was AudioScore ultimate 7. Anyone use this? I have a Roland TD 20 and a 30 on the way. I would love to connect my drums to a program and start scoring that way rather than the tedious method of doing it by mouse or keyboard!

any comments will be greatly appreciated!

Apparently, this is a tall order. Last I heard, programs that tried to hear what you played through audio worked only with limited success.

You say you have a Roland TD-20 on the way. Sweet piece of gear. You can get a midi interface cable that will go from the midi out on the Roland's brain to a USB port on your PC, then you will need software that can understand the data received. From there you should be able to manipulate the midi data the same as any. I've done it a few times using my Roland TD-6, an Edirol UM-1x midi-USB cable and GarageBand on my MAC. Works like a charm. Most audio programs would have much better capability than GarageBand anyway, so you should be fine whatever you choose.

I hope this helps!

Thanks man that does help. I figured that was the case but Audioscore started promoting the ability to play into a mic but the poor quality would make sense for sure! Ill give garageband a shot with my M-audio midi cable! Any better softwear you'd recommend?
