At some point in the near future I would like to get a Powered Speaker for my TD-9 kit. I'm looking at
the JBL Eon and also the Mackie Thump 15A the diff in price is huge, is the sound quality also?
I'll be starting with only a single and then add another late late later on.
Any opinions on these two or maybe another suggestion? Thanks Dan

Havent worked with these speakers you speak of, but they both seem to be good. As for Mackie I used Mackie SRM-450 active speakers, and I really liked 'em. Solid, loud, with a good punchy and clear sound - even on the road and open-air. The only thing they are afraid of is a direct Sunlight - if the radiator becomes too hot, the protecting device switch the amp off.

Here's something to think about... what you hear in your headphones is in "stereo." When you put the kit on a speaker and send it "mono," the sound quality is impaired greatly! To do it right, you really need to have two speakers, and feed the output in stereo, just like what you hear in your ears.
Anyone else have experience with this?

Read this thread mate, these guys have been working it out for years. It's a good site for info on the Roland!

Yes, many people work with EoN speakers, these are great powered speakers. More I know there're some Yamaha, Peavey and Fender models. Not only active speakers, but I mean you can check some sets made of powered mixer and two speakers. For example, you can check this set:

or this one:

or this one:

I worked with Fender Passport several times. What is good, when packed this set is just a big suitcase, and that you can plug there for example your drums and a pair of guitars of your mates.

Ok after serious consideration, and reading lots of threads here and there. And getting a little listen, It looks like I'll be getting a pair of Mackie SRM450's. My highest consideration was clarity specially at low volume and these seem to foot the bill (whatever the hell that means).. So if nothing changes on Friday I'll be ordering these and hopefully by mid-week, next I'll will be making a lot of noise.
My thinking on these speaks are getting a good hi to mid and then later on going for the 1801 sub to complete. BUT that's not to say these are cheesy on the low-end, not great but good enough (tough to say Good Enough when dropping a good sum of money
