Are you looking for effects, compression and aux outs?

Or perhaps a small mixer from Behringer; nothing fancy, but probably will do the job. Should be available for something between 70 and 100 euro. In the States perhaps somewhat cheaper.

You are asking to hook up 5 mics. Unfortunatly for a lot of brands 4 mics is the limit for their small mixers. If you could do with one mic less, you probably can find something cheaper.

But all of course is depending on your budget.

Dude just buy an interface not a mixer .

interface is : mics to the toms , mics to the interface , interface to laptop and done . No special lines or wires .

My choice will be the Presonus fire studio . But if u want cheaper the tascam for $250

The interface connects to the laptop via usb (or firewire). With that (dedicated) software has more control over the input I guess. Personally I don't have experience with an interface like this.

I use a small mixer to connect my e-kit and a mic for voice to my pc. For this I use a regular audio cable to the line-in of the soundcard.
With this I can record and use the setup for online lessons with YT.

I also use the mixer to connect to my headphones and connect to an amplifier. So for me with the e-kit this is the better option.

I thought I saw another topic around regarding miking the drums. Perhaps that one can help you with your questions regarding the mics.

I totally agree the mixer gives you a difference experience compared to the interfAce . I personally prefer the interface cause i dont need any special lines or hardware on my computer , it automatically installs its driver , and divide each mic in separate channels .

Its not the most organic sound but its a good start ,

Is it for. A e kit or acoustic

Interface, you will have independent control over levels for a mix down at the computer. Unless you will need a small mixer for live mixing. Then the argument for getting a mixer could be made. But if your just looking to record at home, then an interface would be the wise decision.
