It happens at some point to all of us. Generally its a wanna-be guitar player. (least with me) Most people don't realize that being a good drummer is difficult and takes a lot of work.

It's never happened to me ...not once.

Do you think they made fun of you because you are a girl?

I've had the same thing from cocky guitar players too. Best thing to do is tell them the other muso jokes, for example :

What's black and blue and lies twitching in the gutter? The <insert instrument of your choice here> player who told too many drummer jokes.

Nice, I like it.

Never had much bother really. I've had friends asking me why I spend so much time practicing, some of them think I have no life to a certain extent but, these are the people that sit each and every night staring at the tv!!! I mean, how much of a waste of time is that?!! At least I'm doing something fun and creative, that's the way I see it, anyway.

they used to, cause i wasnt in a metal band and a didnt play metal 24/7. some drummer used to as well as theyd never heard of me, didnt know what i could do or anything....then they seen my skill level and my adaptability.....they soon shut up after that...one even asked for help from me!.

all you gotta do is rise above it, smile, and ram a drumstick up their nose! (joke!) seriously, jsut learn to rise above it and ignore it, haters gonna hate....

One of the drummers that "subs" for me from time to time is a girl. She's pretty dang good too.
