Hello everybody ;

I’d like to introduce my new snare. I bought it a few days ago in France. This a Gretsch USA snare 14x 7 (square badge) Jasper maple/Gumwood shell. Jasper shells as you know are referring to the « Gretsch sound » and are made from Maple and Gumwood. American Sweetgum/Gumwood (some common names) = Liquidambar styraciflua is known to produce a very complete and satisfyingly round tone once mixed with maple.

This snare was made in 1980 and had been completely reviewed by a French Luthier. As you can see on pictures, it’s like a brand new snare and the sound is just amazing and so versatile ! I’m in love !

Demo :

Glyn Johns Method
4 mics (2 X CM40 large diaphragm, 1 Audix F14 kick, 1 CAD D189 Tom/Snare)
No compression, no effects, neutral recording

Shell serial n° 133537
Original Grestch hardware
Pure Sound Custom 24 spires
Evans G plus Coated batter
Remo Ambassador res
