I want to add a hole to my bass resonant. How do you go about doing this? I've seen it done with a heated tin can. With this method, do you think that I would be safe leaving the hole there naked, or do I need a cover? The last thing that I want is for it to tear.

If you don't do it right, it WILL tear. You can buy a proper hole cutter for not very much money.
here's an example http://www.drumshop....ass-drum-os.htm
Personally I would reinforce the hole with a 'drum O' or a 'kick port' http://www.drumshop....ass-drum-os.htm
anyone else?
Hope this helps,
Andy.

i did one with the heated can, measured to make sure it was the right size, i also drew around a CD on my old resonant head, cut theta out with a crafting knife, got a port hole and fitted it

You will need something to reinforce it or it WILL rip as mentioned before.
