Maybe two months ago someone posted a question about chopping up sticks on his hihat. The recommendation was to lower the hat and flatten out the stick.
Well it turned out I had the same problem, only I didn't know I had that problem. I was chopping up my sticks too, but for some reason I thought it was on my crash cymbals. I worked and worked and worked at trying to get my angle right on the crashes, but with little improvement. I literally would go through a pair of sticks every 1-2 weeks!!!
Well, I've since lowered my hats and flattened out my attack. My sticks are now lasting WAY longer. I broke one pair after about 6 weeks, but even then I think it was just a bad stick. I am getting very little ware on my sticks now.
Had I not checked in on OLD and read that thread, I'd still be shelling out $15-$30 a month on sticks.
Dear OLD, thank you for saving me $150 a year
