Hi-hat function

16 May 2012 - 09:12 AM

NoOb-dWeEb question here about the functioning of the h-h, mine is crappy-cheap no-name brand made in Taiwan, the center rod is all loose-like and the cymbals don't come together evenly in both height (vertically) or in centering (concentric) ... The edges of the cymbals just don't come together nicely.

My question is this:

How much does that effect the sound? A lot? Does the inaccuracy ruin it? Or is it just a "works anyway" kind of deal?
Sure is annoying and I'm wondering how much better a premium-quality h-h works & sounds.

Thanks, m-dash-m

Ergonomics

Hi, I'm the NOoBiSt of n0oBs and I can't quite get comfortable sitting at the set. I'm not sure how I should be. What throne height? Is something like "thighs level" a good guideline?

My main problem is my right foot on the bass pedal, I'm getting fatigue really quick, my heel should definately not be elevated off the floor, correct? I think *maybe* I'm sitting in too tight, too crammed in??

Standup

When I do standup comedy I get free booze. I get up on stage and people are like: "Boo! Boo!"

I decided not to refinance my standup comedy act because I already have a low interest rate.
My dirtbike riding is so bad I got out on the track on a windy day and I was lapped by a paper cup.
Drum-wise I'm hoping for a major boost in talent like the onset of Terettes and 4/4 hickups.

machinist, dirtbiker, standup comic

Hi, I'm new, 52, and my drum playing is so bad I'm getting complaints from the bowling alley next door.

As metioned I'm a machinist, I have my own shop at home and work for an outfit here in town. I make whatever custom hardware I need for my kit and if you're on the KTMTalk.com forums I'm the same "man-machine"

My standup comedy act is going great, there's always a huge line... At the exit.Should I continue? (crickets chirping)

Anyhoo, nice to meet you-all. In the pic I'm practicing wheelies with my new (safety) invention.
My shop.
And my magnificent drum kit. Snare has been upgraded to the appropriate matching black one and the rubber mat replaced with double sheets of USB plywood, no expense was spared.
