I haven't been around much this summer and spent a little while catching up on everyone. For the last few months I have been trying to put a band together. My last band from last winter broke up and it's been hit and miss ever since. I have been going through a little of what Carox has been through trying to find the right people. They are either great musicians and have an impossible personality or they have a great personality and just don't fit in musically. I have been playing in two band in hopes that one of them will take off. If I could just take the best guys from both bands and make one band it would be great but one bass player is cousins with a guitar player , etc, etc. I love the bass player but not so much his cousin on guitar. The other band I though was ready to start booking when I get a call that the lead singer is in jail for back child support. He got out in a couple days and we started practicing again after he told us he had taken care of everything. I'm sorry but I just don't want to be around a deadbeat that won't take care of his kids no matter how good of a singer he is. Then last week, he is back in jail for the same thing. We are trying out a new singer tomorrow but I am not getting my hopes up. The one good thing is that I have been practicing 4 nights a week with 2 different bands for the last couple months and I am getting in a LOT of practice and it is starting to show in my playing. I've also lost about 10 lbs LOL
On another note I picked up one of the new Behringer X32 digital consoles and have fallen in love with the new digital format. This thing has stereo recording to a USB thumb drive and also 32 channels out into a laptop running DAW software. The 32 tracks out is independent of the mix on the board so it will be great for recording shows that I can go back and mix down later. It comes with gates, compressors and 4 band parametric EQ with adjustable Q on every channel . I am hoping to getting into a little recording now and have my drums sounding pretty good through the board. I am going to try and record them pre fader 2 track tonight for practice and see how it turns out.
Glad to be back to spend a little time on the forum!

Back in August I found an awesome deal on an old Pearl Export series kit and never figured I would ever top that. My son has been doing some recording with now three different bands and plays out with two different bands. He just bought a new Pearl Limited edition Masters series kit in Bubinga less than a year ago and didn't like the idea of moving that kit unless he was playing a gig. So to that end we started looking for an old "Beater Kit" to haul around. I found a guy selling a 5pc Premier kit for $250 and the pics looked good so I gave him a call and went to take a look on Sat Morning. It was all I could do to keep my mouth shut and not burst out in a Snoopy dance. The kit turned out to be a 1975 Premier in original Blue wrap, with all of the original Locfast Stands. The Drums were in imaculate condition for being 37 years old and the wrap is just in awesome condition. They have the old slotted style tension rods with cast rims all around. The Reso head on the bass drum was torn and I made the guy an offer of $200 and he took it saying that he really needed these gone to make room in his house as he didn't play them anymore. They also came with a Zildjian 22" Pitch Black ride, a Paiste PST3 18" crash and a pair of 13" Paiste PST3 Hihats. As we were loading it all up, he said hey wait a minute. I got all these Drum mikes I don't need anymore and you can have these too. It was a complete set of Samson mikes, 4 toms, kick and two overhead condensors. My son is coming over tonight to pick up the kit. It's a year older than he is LOL. I'll try and take some pics and post them later but I was wondering if anyone knew what these may be worth. Does any of you guys from across the pond have a Slotted drum key you want to sell?
Bill Ward can't be replaced

It would appear that Sharon Osborn is replacing Bill Ward for a Black Sabbath reunion tour and new CD. It all comes down to Bill being offered a contract that he just can't except. Personally, I think Sharon needs to butt out. Maybe they should fire Sharon. Sabbath isn't Sabbath without Bill. If you are on Facebook check it out
