Hey, everyone,

Awhile back I got a set of three roto toms (6", 8", and 12"). They're a pretty different change of sound with my original kit and are not currently set up with my kit. This being because I'm not particularly sure where to fit them into a drum session, or even into a song. So, if anyone can give me some tips, or even tell me some good stories of their own experiences with roto toms, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thankyou for the feedback :)

Why doesn't Remo make a 21st century way to mount them? They might make a comeback if you could I don't know, mount them on anything but the old crappy bar stands. With all the clamps out there you'd think they would make something modular. Oh well. I am one of the people who actually likes Rototoms and what they do. I always thought having control over easily changing pitch was a cool thing. Musical you know for us drummers. I happen to think they sound cool too but I grew up listening to Van Halen and Missing Persons so... Pink Floyd's "Time" and cuts off the Wall have nice Rototom work too not to mention Bruford back in the day. I liked how ringy they are and the old CS Black Dot heads always looked cool to me. Are they for everyone? No. Do I like them better than Octobans? Yes. Will anyone agree with me? Most likely not. I like Octobans too so please, no hate.

I use them when I go fishing.

I tie a rope to them....throw them over the boat, and they keep me from floating away from the spot I'm in.

obviously they'll never be as good as proper drums, but for a good add-on or FX set, they're good :)
