Interface, you will have independent control over levels for a mix down at the computer. Unless you will need a small mixer for live mixing. Then the argument for getting a mixer could be made. But if your just looking to record at home, then an interface would be the wise decision.

I picked up the Peavey PV 14 mixer for $199 at a day-of-closing sale at a local music store. There are smaller variants of this mixer... and I must say, I'm impressed. Nice preamp as well. Look at the PV 10 or PV 8. Can be had for under 150.
