I been playing for 12 years now , ive played hundreds of snares and owned a few, just to mention some:

Craviotto
Dunnett
Ludwig
Tama
Gretsch
Ochel tree
Ddrum
Sonor
Yamaha
Pearl
Brady
Mapex
Rogers
Slingeland
Ahead
Dw
Plus more.....
So the thing is that i have experimented with lots of snares in my career.

So here is my story.

I started college on 2004 to study music , everything was fun an all , but in Puerto rico is very hard for a musician to gig and have success (100 mile island in the caribbean).

So in 2010 i decided to give up on drums and joined the military(Us Air Force) . Originally i applied has a percussionist for the band , but due to language barriers(spanish is my first language) , i coulndt get the score to get in , so i came in as Security Forces (Military Police for Army), which is the lowest possible job in the military.

I got stationed on Colorado , Us.

I was a whole year training with no drums. Plus i live on base ( cant make much noise) .

But i discovered something here that we dont have at Puerto Rico : Pawn Shops

For me that was like heaven cause i found lots of cheap used stuff .

So i remember just browsing throught stuff , and i saw it . It was a 13x7 Pork Pie Piglite Acrylic, Amber color with tube lugs laying on top of an old ludwig accent. First thing that came into my mind : jonh bohnam. So i ask the guy how much was it , $250 for the whole drumset including the snare .

So i asked my wife (she is the boss lol) about it and she approved it . So i bought it. It was in mint condition .

So i started practicing again every days . But then i found that That snare was a little special . It was a Special edition , Pork Pie Made . They made a different bearing edge cut that the other , they only made 25 of those.

So i basically fell in Love with acrylic snares thanks to my pork pie , i even made a rci blue 10x5 one to have a second acrylic snare .
Right now i have in my studio a 14x5.5 Black beauty in my studio , every time people play my drums the prefer the pork pie . I have them both
Tuned at the same note , same heads , same wires.

So bassically i found my musical soulmate .

Thats little of me .

Plans are to get out of the military to dedicate myself 100% to music

Nice story Isra,
as you know, I'm a big fan of acrylic too, there's just something about them. I too had a Black Beauty, which I sold not so long ago as I was strapped for cash at the time, it was a toss up between the BB and the Atomic Bomb snare, and the Atomic Bomb won!

I'm glad you found your musical soulmate.

Andy.
