hello everyone. as stated I'm new to this site. I'm a 25 year old drummer from the great state of Vermont. I started playing drums in college about 3 years ago. Joined a band during my first week of ever playing drums! needless to say it was difficult to catch up with 4 talented musicians, but if I could give any advice to new drummers, the best way to learn it to get to the "studio" right away and you'll learn to force yourself to keep up, much quicker then on your own. we were just a fun "college guy" band, playing at house parties etc. went by the name of "flough".  our practice room was an 8'/10' small bedroom in my apartment covered in stirofoam and blankets (i still think my hearing has not fully improved since then) but it was a great time. now i try to play whenever i can, working on new beats and rudiments or playing along with some of my favorite bands via headphones, to hone my skills as an "intermediate" drummer i would call myself. I'll also say this site has been awesome since i've found it. the "weekly beats" and tuorials have been great for me to broaden my horizens. my style of choice is and has always been rock music, mostly the classics, but as i've grown, i've dabbled into slightly more modern, more complex rock music. I lived with an amazing blues guitarist last year, and had an oppertunity to learn a lot from that style, and to learn about how so many songs have a blues-based rhythm that i didn't previously recognize. below are pics of my set, which i hope i tagged correctly in this topic. It's a 5-peice pearl export-pro series. Ludwig chrome snare, iron cobra kick pedal, ec2 coated heads. cymbals include a zildjian a-custom 14" fast crash, sabian xs20 10"splash, xs20 18" china, xs20 18"crash-ride, and original pearl ride and hihats(which will be replaced soon). just pulled the set out of storage so it's a little dirty, i'll have to clean it soon. glad to be on this site once again, happy drumming

Welcome to OnLineDrummer and welcome to the "Drummunity".

Great intro.  Pull up a throne and make yourself at home.

As for the pics, here's one way to do it:

1.  Go to a photo or pic hosting site such as Photobucket .  Photobucket is totally free and very easy to follow.

2.  After you register, upload your pics to Photobucket.

Now here's what to do OLD (OLD=OnLineDrummer) :

1.  Go to the "Pics" topic board.

2.  Click on "New Topic" to start a new thread.

3.  Fill in the blanks as normal...

4.  Click on the icon that looks like a framed pic.  You should see "img" appear twice and each enclosed in brackets.

5.  Go to your Photobucket account (don't close out from OLD; just open another tab or window to access your Photobucket account).

6.  Under the picture you want to post, copy the text that appear next to the words "Direct Link"

7.  Navigate back to OLD

8.  In between the two bracketd "img" characters, paste the link you copied from Photobucket.

9.  Click "Preview" at the bottom of the text board to see how your post will look.

10.  Hit "Post" if you're satisfied.

If you still have any problems let us know.  We'll be more than happy to help.  That goes with any questions you may have.  We're all about drummers helping drummers.

Take care and we look forward to seeing you around the boards.

Peace and Drums,
Chase David
