A Slick Almost-Linear BuildNate Brown
This linear groove starts off with a simple, but great-sounding, pattern. Each bar adds to the previous bar to gradually fill out the beat.
All of the snare strokes are to be played with the left stick. The floor tom is played with the right. In exercise 3, the hi-hat foot is introduced, which technically ceases the “linear” nature of the groove because some of the strokes fall in line with others. Exercise 4 adds the high tom. The first high tom is played with the right stick and the second with the left.
