Grooving Sixteenth Rock with Funky Rolls

This rock groove plays alternating sixteenth notes between the ride bell and hi-hat. The snare remains on the classic beats 2 and 4 while the hands do the embellishing.
If the open hi-hats are slowing you down, feel free to try the beat without the open hats. It’s still a great sounding beat. Or, you can also try re-orchestrating the open hi-hat strokes, playing them on the toms instead. This adds a melodic touch to the groove and can be quite cool.
If you come up with a cool re-orchestration, send it to us! We just might feature it on this page.
