Hi-Hat Techniques from Closer

Learn the main drum beat from the song Closer by The Chainsmokers.
The main beat features 3 levels of hi-hat articulations: a fully opened hi-hat played with the tip of the stick, a partially opened hi-hat (indicated by the slashed circle symbol) and a regular, closed hi-hat stroke played with the tip of the stick.
It can take some time and practice to get used to transitioning between different hi-hat articulations. A good technique is to use the “shoulder” of the stick (located just below the tip) to aide in producing the partially opened (or loose) hi-hat stroke.
