Ride Bell Threes

The Ride Bell Threes beat uses groups of three ride cymbal strokes that overlap the bars. The ride is played on the bell on beats 1 and 3 to bring out the downbeats.

This ride technique can be applied to any groove that you already play. Challenge yourself by trying it out on your favorite drum beat. Take note of how the overall feel of the groove changes. It can make the learning process easier if you write your ‘changed’ groove out on paper.
