Sober – Tool – Verse

This pattern was used throughout the intro and verse sections of the Tool's 1993 single, Sober.
The main rhythm of the bass guitarist’s distinctive riff was doubled by Danny Carey on the bass drum. The hi-hats were played in a ‘2 sixteenth and an eighth’ ostinato – opening the hi-hats on the ‘ands’ of each beat.
