Drum Fill #13 – 6 to 3
Number 1 above lays out the foundation for this fill, which consists of two groups of six sixteenth-note triplets and two groups of three eighth-note triplets — hence the title of this lesson, “6 to 3.”
Numbers 2 and 3 are examples of ways to move the fill around the toms. However, there are many more ways the patterns can be orchestrated around the kit. Number 4 is a blank template for you to experiment with your own patterns.
Experiment, have fun with it and if you come up with something cool please share in the comments below. Check back on OnlineDrummer.com tomorrow for Steve Ley’s Saturday drum beat with audio and then again on Monday for my Monday drum lesson. Keep drumming!
