These grooves explore a steady, quarter-note hi-hat foot played over a 7/8 groove. Drum fills included.

Grooves 2 through 6 gradually build upon #1. The most notable addition appears in #2 where a hi-hat foot ostinato is introduced. The hi-hat plays what sounds like straight quarter notes in 4/4 time over the 7/8 beat. Because of this, the hi-hat foot falls on the downbeats in the first bar of the groove and the upbeats in the second.
