Travis Barker Technique – Feeling This
Description
Learn the techniques that Barker borrowed from John Bonham and the creative way he incorporated them into the groove for Feeling This.
Studying and learning to play other drummers’ beats and playing styles is a great way to develop your technique. It forces you to play things that you may not have otherwise thought to play. In a sense, you’re stepping into the “drumming mind” of another drummer which allows you to broaden your horizons.
In Feeling This, Barker not only borrows well-known John Bonham grooves and techniques, but he puts them together in a new and unique way. It’s the “Barker-take” on John Bonham.
Continue to study and learn what other drummers are playing, stepping outside of your comfort zone to develop technique. Then, apply your own creative interpretations to the grooves.
