A Bit of Linear Funk - Problem Live

By Nate Brown

This slick funk-rock groove is used by Keith McJimson in the live version of Problem by Ariana Grande.

The second bar features a repeating linear pattern. You'll notice that the first bar is written in two voices (i.e. stems up and stems down), while the linear bar is written in a single voice.

Drum notation for the "A Bit of Linear Funk - Problem Live" drum lesson.

McJimson uses a unique sticking for this drum beat. If you'd like to try it, I've included his sticking for the hi-hat below. The snare drum is played with the left stick for all strokes.
