Twelve "Walking" Beats & Fills

By Nate Brown

The Walking foot pattern is a lot of fun to play and makes for a great drum solo concept. The term "walking" refers to the motion of your feet while playing the technique — right, left, right, left — like you're walking.

These twelve examples feature the same walking foot pattern throughout. Only the hands change with each exercise. The beginning examples are simpler, and the examples near the end are more complex. After you've learned these, try coming up with your own patterns (or even a drum solo) using the walking foot pattern. Get your walk on!
